🌺 Spring (FS) 2022
Software is an entity under constant evolution, not only to accommodate customer needs, but also to rectify bugs, or address changes in the environment. It is therefore not by coincidence that Lehman’s first law of software evolution states that a software system must be continuously adapted, or it will become less and less useful. This constant mutation poses many technical challenges, hence promoting researchers and practitioners to study and support software evolution, and the humans involved in the process. In this seminar, we will cover some of the most relevant studies, approaches, and techniques, that scientific research has investigated and pushed forward in this space.
In particular, students will choose a specific research topic in software engineering to work on. By the end of the course, they will be asked to present a literature review about the chosen topic in the form of a technical report. Furthermore, students will take part in a simulated peer-reviewing process for the first version of the produced reports. Finally, they will share as a presentation the results of their work and discuss them with the class.
